Upcoming Events
From outdoor barbecues to community collaborations, hosting events where we can meet you all face-to-face is one of the most rewarding aspects of running this business. Here’s a peek at what’s to come:
July 25th, 6pm, Mandarin Immersion Night: The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity to immerse yourself in Mandarin conversation in the non-judgmental context of other learners. Practice basic conversational skills while learning from and about each other. Sign up for our general interest email list to be the first notified about future Mandarin Immersion events (including our next one on Thursday, July 25th).
July 28th, 12-4pm, Catmint Wheel Cake Pop Up: Wheel cake, or 車輪餅, is a classic street snack in Taiwan, made with a pancake-like batter that’s griddled in a mold—crisp on the outside and pillowy on the inside. They’re stuffed with fillings like custard, purple yam, or red bean paste before being flipped, finished, sealed, and served warm. We are excited to host Catmint Wheel Cake, who will pop up at our shop and serve wheel cakes right out the machine they brought from Taiwan. Keep an eye out for a special Yun Hai flavor too: a chocolate shell filled with vanilla custard, fresh strawberries, and Yun Hai Irwin mango jam.
From time to time, we put items that are overstocked or nearing their best before date on sale. This date isn't an expiration date, but represents the recommended time period to consume the item at peak freshness. The items are safe to consume beyond that date and may stay at their best for a while longer.
To prevent waste, we offer these products as part of our Quick Sale collection at a discount to you. The sale page will indicate why they are on sale and what their best before dates are. It’s a great way to get your favorites for less and reduce food waste at the same time.

I am in the long-read camp, but lovely to see an update from you.
I also wanted to share that I saw Yun Hai on the front page of English Wikipedia recently. Yun Hai was featured in the "Did You Know" section, and an archived version is available here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Main_Page_history/2024_February_11 . Kudos to you :)
