Taiwan Wei s a newsletter exploring Taiwanese food and culture, covering everything from home cooking to the island’s traditional agriculture.
It’s written by Lisa Cheng Smith, founder of Yun Hai Taiwanese Pantry, with the goal of exploring lesser-known corners of contemporary Taiwanese food. Newsletters will include recipes from my home kitchen and ongoing research into Taiwanese food and agricultural production.

Free subscribers will receive monthly letter with personal reflections on my Taiwan research, original recipes (featuring products from Yun Hai), and a behind-the-scenes look at all that goes into Yun Hai Taiwanese Pantry.
Paid subscribers are crucial to funding future content development about Taiwan, like our Taiwanese Cooking Show, Cooking with Steam. Our mission is to raise awareness about Taiwanese culture through food, so most of the content we develop will be available to the public for free. In exchange for your support, we’ll share exclusive recipes and Taiwanese cultural content from time to time, a monthly Taiwan link round up, and ask for your input on upcoming newsletter and cooking show topics. The cost is $5 a month or $50 a year.
